ShiftSwap ("ShiftSwap", "we", "us", or "our") operates the ShiftSwap website and mobile application at getshiftswap.com (the "Service"), a peer-to-peer marketplace that helps hourly workers post, claim, and swap work shifts with coworkers, with manager approval. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information. When you create an account — with email and password or through Google sign-in — we collect your name, email address, and authentication identifiers. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account, as permitted by your Google settings.
  • Workplace information. Your store or workplace membership, your role (worker or manager), and the store codes you use to join or register a workplace.
  • Shift and activity information. Shifts you post or claim, position titles, shift times, bounty amounts, approval status, and related messages or actions taken in the Service.
  • Payment information. Your PayPal email address (used to send you bounty payouts), transaction records, bounty and fee amounts, payment status, and PayPal order and payout batch references. We do not collect or store your full payment card or bank account numbers; payments are processed by PayPal.
  • Device and usage information. Log data such as IP address, browser or device type, pages visited, and timestamps, used for security, debugging, and operating the Service.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and secure your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
  • Connect you with teammates at your workplace and show relevant shifts.
  • Operate the shift marketplace: posting, claiming, manager approvals, and history.
  • Process bounty payments and platform fees, hold funds in escrow, and send payouts.
  • Provide transaction and payment history to you and, where applicable, your managers.
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access, and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate important service updates.
  • Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

3. How we share your information

We share information only in these circumstances:

  • With your workplace. Members of your store can see the profile and shift details needed to coordinate coverage (such as your name and shift times). Managers at your location can review shift trades, approvals, and related transaction records.
  • With service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate the Service, including cloud hosting and database infrastructure, authentication providers (including Google for sign-in), and PayPal for payment processing and payouts. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us.
  • For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

4. Google sign-in data

If you choose "Continue with Google", we receive only your basic profile information (name, email address, and profile picture) to create and secure your account. We do not access your Gmail, contacts, calendar, or any other Google data, and we do not use Google sign-in data for advertising.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your theme preference, and secure your session. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Data retention and deletion

We retain your information while your account is active and as needed for security, legal, tax, and transaction record-keeping. You can permanently delete your account at any time from the account menu in the app. Deletion removes your profile and workplace membership; transaction records may be retained as required for financial and legal compliance.

7. Data security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and row-level security on our database, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify affected users of any breach as required by law.

8. Your rights and choices

  • View and update your profile and payout information in Settings.
  • Sign out at any time.
  • Permanently delete your account from the account menu.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or export your personal information. Contact us to exercise these rights.

9. Children's privacy

ShiftSwap is intended for workers who are at least 16 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will provide additional notice in the app.
